The MCT460 accurately determines the moisture, oil and fat content of solid materials.
It can also be used to determine coating thicknesses and is suitable for process control of a wide variety of manufactured products such as:
- plasterboard
- pellets
- powders & granules
- wood
- flaked products
It illuminates the product using near infrared (NIR) light. Molecular bonds present in water (H2O), or the C-H bond present in organic liquids and oils, absorb light at specific wavelengths in the NIR spectrum. Narrow band light filters are used to determine absorption at three specific wavelengths, and are compared to absorption at other wavelengths. This pulsed light illuminates the product being measured. The signals generated are then processed and calibrated to provide a display and output proportional to the measured constituent (either humidity, oil & fats or coating thickness).
